Alabama Crimson Tide closes out spring practice with annual Golden Flake A-Day
Alabama football spent approximately 90 minutes practicing in front of Crimson Tide fans for Golden Flake A-Day on Saturday afternoon inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Following the practice, which spanned 19 five-minute periods, Yea Alabama members were invited to an on-field autograph session that featured the entire roster along with head coach Kalen DeBoer.
The team practiced in helmets and shoulder pads during the 90-minute session. The workout featured a variety of drills for both the offense and defense, highlighted by six consecutive periods of team and 7-on-7 drills.

The Alabama Crimson Tide wrapped up their spring football season with the annual Golden Flake A-Day Game on Saturday, giving fans their first look at the 2025 squad under second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer. Held at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the scrimmage marked the end of 15 spring practices and offered insights into the depth chart, quarterback battle, and progress on both sides of the ball.
Team White, led by presumed starting quarterback Jalen Milroe, edged out Team Crimson, 17-13, in a game that emphasized situational football and player evaluation more than scoreboard results. Milroe showed growth as a passer, completing several sharp throws downfield while also displaying the dual-threat ability that helped lead Alabama to the College Football Playoff last season. However, he faced pressure from a relentless pass rush that highlighted Alabama’s evolving front seven.
The biggest storyline heading into the A-Day Game was the ongoing development of the offensive line and new-look wide receiver group. Early enrollee Ryan Williams, the five-star phenom from Saraland, turned heads with a 45-yard touchdown reception that ignited the crowd. His speed and maturity stood out, and he appears poised to earn early playing time this fall.
On the defensive side, linebacker Jihaad Campbell and defensive lineman Tim Keenan III delivered standout performances, with Campbell registering a sack and several key tackles. The defense looked aggressive under new defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, showing multiple blitz looks and tight coverage in the secondary.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day came from backup quarterback Dylan Lonergan, who made a strong case for the QB2 role. He connected on multiple intermediate throws and led a scoring drive late in the second half, giving the coaching staff something to think about heading into summer workouts.
Special teams also got work in, with kicker Will Reichard—now in his final season—drilling a 48-yard field goal to cap a solid showing.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer was measured but optimistic in his postgame remarks. “We got better this spring,” DeBoer said. “The effort, the energy, the competition—it’s what we needed. We still have a long way to go, but I like where this group is headed.”
The Crimson Tide will now enter the summer offseason with momentum, looking to build chemistry and finalize positional battles before fall camp. With high expectations once again in Tuscaloosa, the A-Day Game provided fans with a glimpse of the talent and potential that could define Alabama’s 2025 campaign.
While there are still questions to answer—particularly regarding offensive consistency and depth in the secondary—the foundation looks strong. If the spring finale was any indication, Alabama remains very much in the mix for another SEC title and College Football Playoff run.
