Alabama football lands in-state player from transfer portal

First in Birmingham, then Troy and now Tuscaloosa. Dalton, a tight end, has decided to transfer to play for Alabama football, his manager Corey Williams told AL.com on Thursday night

Alabama also landed West Virginia tight end Jack Sammarco this week.

Dalton, a Fyffe native, began his collegiate career at UAB. He spent his freshman and redshirt freshman seasons with the Blazers. Then the 6-5, 250-pound tight end transferred to Troy, where he spent the past two seasons.

In 2024, Dalton started eight games, catching 15 receptions for 188 yards and three touchdowns, by far his most productive season as a pass catcher in college.

Dalton supplements a tight end room that sustained a handful of injuries in the spring. So much so that Jay Lindsey became the only healthy scholarship tight end by the time A-Day arrived. Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. figure to lead the group in 2025 with the departure of CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts off to the NFL.

The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has bolstered its roster by securing a commitment from former Ball State offensive lineman Arkel Anugwom. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 325 pounds, Anugwom brings significant size to Alabama’s offensive line. Originally from Antioch, Tennessee, he moved from Nigeria before his senior year of high school and played at Antioch High School. After redshirting in 2023, Anugwom participated in several games for Ball State in 2024. He enters the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining and will join Alabama’s offensive line depth chart, which includes returning starters Kadyn Proctor and Elijah Pritchett. ​

Anugwom’s addition is part of a broader effort by Alabama to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal. Other notable transfers include defensive lineman Kelby Collins from Florida, wide receiver Isaiah Horton from Miami, and offensive lineman Kam Dewberry from Texas A&M. These moves aim to address key positions and enhance the team’s competitiveness for the upcoming season. ​

With these strategic additions, Alabama is positioning itself for a strong 2025 season, aiming to maintain its status as a powerhouse in college football.
