The Alabama Crimson Tide have bolstered their tight end position by securing the commitment of Brody Dalton, a seasoned tight end from Troy University. Dalton, a native of Fyffe, Alabama, brings valuable experience to a unit that has undergone significant changes following the departures of key players.

Brody Dalton: A Proven Commodity

Brody Dalton’s collegiate journey began at UAB before transferring to Troy, where he became a pivotal figure in the Trojans’ offense. Over the course of 32 games, Dalton accumulated 24 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns. In the 2024 season, he recorded 15 catches for 188 yards and was one of only three players on the team with multiple touchdown receptions. His versatility is evident, having spent 378 of his 548 snaps as an inline tight end and 104 snaps in the backfield, according to Pro Football Focus.

Dalton’s decision to transfer to Alabama was influenced by the opportunity to return to his home state and contribute to a program with a rich football tradition. His commitment came shortly after a visit to Tuscaloosa, where he chose the Crimson Tide over other suitors, including North Carolina.

Addressing Depth Concerns

Alabama’s tight end depth chart underwent significant changes during the offseason. The team lost key contributors such as CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts to graduation, leaving a void in the position group. Additionally, Danny Lewis Jr., who had entered the transfer portal, decided to withdraw and return to the team, providing a boost to the unit. With these changes, the addition of Dalton provides immediate experience and depth, ensuring that Alabama’s offense remains dynamic and versatile.

The Path Forward

With the 2025 season approaching, Alabama’s tight end group is shaping up to be a blend of experienced players and promising talent. Dalton’s presence, combined with the return of Lewis Jr. and the addition of incoming recruits like Kaleb Edwards and Marshall Pritchett, positions the Crimson Tide to maintain a strong and multifaceted offensive attack.

As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on how Dalton integrates into Alabama’s system and contributes to the team’s success. His experience and familiarity with the state make him a valuable asset as the Crimson Tide aim for another successful campaign.
