Alabama Makes Top Ten for Four-Star Safety
With spring practice in the rearview mirror, the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff will now turn its attention to the recruiting trail over the summer. Alabama already has a head start, with the seventh-ranked recruiting class according to On3 Sports.
Alabama has one five-star, three four-stars, and one three-star committed to the 2026 recruiting class, with busy weekends coming in May and June for top prospects. Alabama’s general manager, Courtney Morgan, and the Tide’s recruiting staff will try and sell top prospects from across the country that Alabama is the place for them as they pursue their dreams of playing in the NFL.
Three of the Tide’s current five commits are from Georgia, with Alabama putting an emphasis on recruiting in its neighboring state. Alabama has made the top ten list of schools for another four-star prospect from Georgia.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Alabama is a top-ten finalist for four-star safety Jordan Smith.
Smith, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, included four other SEC schools, three ACC schools, one Big Ten school, and one AAC school in his top ten.
In November 2024, Alabama secured a significant commitment from four-star safety Ivan Taylor, a top-12 national recruit from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. Taylor initially committed to Notre Dame, then to Michigan, before ultimately choosing Alabama. His decision bolstered the Crimson Tide’s 2025 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 6 nationally by 247Sports
Taylor is noted for his versatility, intelligence, and leadership on the field. During his senior season, he recorded 50 tackles, including six for loss, and four interceptions in just seven games . His commitment adds depth to Alabama’s secondary, complementing other top recruits like cornerback Dijon Lee and safety Zavier Mincey
