Alabama’s Audrey Vandagriff Named Top Three Finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama’s Audrey Vandagriff is one of three finalists for the 2025 NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award, announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Vandagriff is the third Alabama freshman to make the cut as a top three finalist for the national award, joining Alexis Osorio (2015) and Montana Fouts (2019). The Bogart, Ga., native leads the SEC and is second nationally with 50 stolen bases. She is just the third player in program history to eclipse 50 stolen bases in a season and the first since current assistant coach Kayla Braud swiped 58 as a sophomore in 2011. Vandagriff also leads the team with a .406 batting average, 69 hits, 51 runs scored, eight doubles and 37 walks.
The NFCA Freshman of the Year will be announced on May 27 in Oklahoma City prior to the start of the Women’s College World Series. Other finalists include Florida’s Taylor Shumaker and Oregon’s Rylee McCoy.
