Auburn’s Tahaad Pettiford Sends Three-Word Request to Star Transfer
After failing to get past the Florida Gators in the Final Four, Tahaad Pettiford saw his freshman season with the Auburn Tigers come to an end.Pettiford certainly boosted his draft stock a bit during Auburn’s NCAA Tournament run. In five March Madness games, he averaged 15.2 points and 3.6 assists coming off the bench.
Now, the Tigers will lose All-American Johni Broome, finishing out his senior season. But Pettiford also declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, still maintaining his college eligibility.
As coach Bruce Pearl continues to look for potential replacements in the transfer portal, the BYU Cougars, another tournament team, made a big splash on Monday, landing Baylor transfer Robert Wright III.
“Let’s Work💙🙏🏽 #year2 #PG1 #AGTG,” Wright wrote on Instagram with a photo of himself in BYU gear.
Pettiford, who has gained a substantial following on Instagram with over 200,000 followers, commented on Wright’s post with a simple request: “let’s work brudda.”
Wright began his freshman season with the Bears coming off the bench but was permanently added to the starting lineup in the second half of the season. He averaged 11.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
Wright, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Montverde Academy (Montverde, FL), was a five-star prospect in the class of 2024 (247 Sports). He ranked as the 23-best overall and the best point guard. He also ranked as the 8th-best transfer in this year’s portal class.
One of Wright’s most impressive games came in a Dec. 11 win over Norfolk State. Receiving his second start of the year, the freshman recorded 16 points and 13 assists, his lone double-double of the season.
Wright will now join a BYU team that is bringing in one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class: AJ Dybantsa.
Turner isn’t just another big-bodied SEC defender—he’s a disruptor, the kind that creates chaos at the point of attack. During his junior season at Texas A&M, he racked up 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks while drawing consistent double-teams. His combination of length, first-step quickness, and raw strength made him a mismatch against most interior offensive linemen.
Scouts have long raved about Turner’s explosive get-off and ability to penetrate the line. He has the rare twitchiness for a player his size, and when he’s locked in, he flashes the kind of dominance that reminds some evaluators of former Pro Bowlers like Chris Jones or Quinnen Williams. While Turner might not be a finished product yet, his ceiling is that of a three-down interior defender who can tilt the field in an opponent’s backfield.
For Arizona, that’s exactly what the doctor ordered.
