Citron Set To Attend 2025 WNBA Draft

NEW YORK — Sonia Citron’s professional basketball career will start on a grand stage.

On Friday, the WNBA announced that Citron is one of a 16 hopefuls who will be in New York on Monday night for the 2025 WNBA Draft. The former Notre Dame guard is a projected lottery selection and hopes to become the 21st WNBA Draft pick in program history.

In addition to Citron, Notre Dame’s Liza Karlen, Liatu King and Maddy Westbeld declared for the WNBA Draft. Westbeld is entering her professional career after five years in South Bend, while Karlen and King were each impactful graduate transfers from Marquette and Pittsburgh, respectively, this year.

Monday’s Draft will begin on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. The seated event will be live from Hudson Yards at the Shed, an iconic, cultural institution that hosts established and emerging artists in fields ranging from hip hop to classical music, painting to digital media, theater to literature, and sculpture to dance in an unprecedented movable structure.

Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron is among the 16 top prospects invited to attend the 2025 WNBA Draft in person, scheduled for tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET at The Shed in New York City. Citron, a 6’1″ guard, has had a standout collegiate career, earning two All-ACC First Team honors. In her senior year, she averaged 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, showcasing her versatility and defensive prowess.

Mock drafts project Citron to be selected in the early rounds of the draft. The Washington Mystics are anticipated to choose her with the fourth overall pick, following their selection of French center Dominique Malonga at No. 3. Alternatively, the Chicago Sky, holding the third pick, are also projected to select Citron, aiming to bolster their guard play and shooting capabilities.

The 2025 WNBA Draft will be broadcast on ESPN, with WNBA Countdown starting at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the draft at 7:30 p.m. ET.
