Could Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer team up with a former rival? Unpacking his possible NFL Draft landing spots

Spring football is over for Ohio State, which means the spring transfer portal window is open, and the Buckeyes have some needs to fill.

Despite being in the middle of a national championship run, the Buckeyes did a nice job in the winter portal, adding six players to the roster, many of whom will have an immediate impact next season, like tight end Max Klare, offensive tackle Ethan Onianwa and running back C.J. Donaldson Jr., among others.
Still, the spring showed us that there are some major needs the Buckeyes must address.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Few players are as synonymous with the 2024-25 college football season as Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer.

Whether it was his involvement in a scrum following Michigan’s win inside Ohio Stadium or his scoop-and-score vs. Texas to seal OSU’s trip to the title game, the story of last season won’t be told without him.

What does that mean for his 2025 NFL Draft stock?

Sawyer won’t hear his named called among the top edge rushers — a list that includes Penn State’s Abdul Carter, Georgia’s Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams and Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart.

He may not even be the first defensive end from Ohio State selected as J.T. Tuimoloau could own that distinction.
