Duke’s Jon Scheyer Suffers Major Recruiting Loss on Sunday
The Duke Blue Devils took yet another step toward improvement under the leadership of head coach Jon Scheyer.
Duke finished the season with a 35-4 record, earning four victories in the NCAA Tournament: Alabama, Arizona, Baylor and Mount Saint Mary’s.
They ultimately suffered a loss to Houston in the Final Four. While Scheyer and his staff were looking to bounce back from the loss and rebuild Duke’s roster, they were dealt a recruiting blow for the class of 2025.
According to Joe Tipton, five-star prospect Nate Ament has committed to Tennessee, choosing the Volunteers over Duke, Arkansas, Louisville and Kentucky.
Duke and Tennessee were widely viewed as the top two suitors for Ament for much of the recruiting cycle. According to 247Sports, Ament took an official visit to Duke on January 31.

The Blue Devils received commitments from two five-star prospects, Cameron Boozer and Nikolas Khamenia and a pledge from four-star guard Cayden Boozer.
