Men’s basketball<\/b><\/h3>\n

Deron Rippey Jr., East<\/b><\/p>\n

Rippey is Duke\u2019s highest-rated true point guard recruit since Trevon Duval in 2017 and brings a unique set of skills different from previous guards that have come through Durham in recent years. He is extremely explosive, boasting hops that earned him a spot in the event\u2019s dunk contest Monday. Rippey is listed at 6-foot-2, smaller than recent Blue Devil ball handlers, but possesses a quick first step and is clearly a rim-hunter. Watch his first step to the basket here, where he grabs his own miss at the rim:<\/p>\n

Tuesday in Glendale, Ariz., the No. 10 prospect in his class per 247Sports tallied seven points, and an impressive five rebounds and four assists gave fans and scouts plenty to be excited about. Watch as he confidently dribbles around his defender and gets to the rim before dishing out for his team to get an open three:<\/p>\n

The Brooklyn, N.Y., native had several similar plays in the second half and frequently linked up with Arkansas commit Jordan Smith Jr. \u2014 who led the side with 15 \u2014 to lead the offense for the East. It wouldn\u2019t be enough, though, as the West team pulled away late in the third to complete the 102-86 victory.<\/p>\n

It was admittedly a quieter night for the No. 3 player in the class, who scored nine points as the West team rolled to the win. But that\u2019s no cause for concern. His size stands out immediately \u2014 Williams is listed at 6-foot-11 \u2014 and the forward\u2019s long arms make him incredibly valuable on the defensive end. Watch as he picks the ball handler\u2019s pocket for a steal and dishes out an assist on the break:<\/p>\n

The Phoenix native shot 3-of-8 from the field, including a wide-open jam late in the fourth. Similar to his predecessors Cooper Flagg and Cameron Boozer, though, Williams can\u2019t be left alone from range and is a very strong perimeter shooter. Watch him nail a three here over the closeout of his future teammate Rippey:<\/p>\n

Williams is Duke\u2019s top recruit in the class and will likely immediately find himself in the starting lineup in November, assuming forward Cameron Boozer declares for the NBA draft. His shooting and ball-handling are already in good form, and a summer of conditioning and growth should likely improve his size and physicality in preparation for his transition to facing stronger, tougher and older forwards when the season comes around.<\/p>\n

As Jon Scheyer looks to reload his roster, Williams and Rippey will be joined in Durham by five-star swingman Bryson Howard and four-star center Maxime Meyer, making for an another impressive, well-rounded recruiting class for the Blue Devils.<\/p>\n

Women’s basketball<\/b><\/h3>\n

Autumn Fleary, East<\/b><\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s side, point guard Autumn Fleary highlights Kara Lawson\u2019s strongest recruiting class yet. The Washington, D.C., native\u2019s pace of play is noticeable, and Fleary moves quickly up and down the floor. She stands at just 5-foot-7 \u2014 the shortest player on either roster in the game \u2014 and had no problem pushing the tempo and handling the ball. Watch as she finishes through contact at the rim on a fast break:<\/p>\n

The point guard gives Blue Devil fans an early look at Duke\u2019s future ball handler. Her smaller stature and speed mirrors current senior Taina Mair, and Fleary will slot in to next year\u2019s roster as a nice complement to redshirt freshman Emilee Skinner in the backcourt.<\/p>\n

Bella Flemings, West<\/b><\/p>\n

Like her future teammate, Flemings checked in midway through the first and quickly entered the box score with a corner three. The No. 15 prospect per 247Sports also participated in the event\u2019s 3-point contest the night before, but came up short to Kentucky signee Emily McDonald.\u00a0Watch her nail a spot-up jumper and draw a foul:<\/p>\n

Duke fans should be excited about the five-star\u2019s potential. Flemings is an elite spot-up shooter and is capable of scoring in waves. At 6-foot, her size will bolster an already-tall roster in Durham and will likely slot in with rising redshirt junior Riley Nelson on the wing upon her arrival.<\/p>\n

In the game, the West team got out to a nine-point lead midway through the second quarter, but an 11-3 run by the East kept it close. Flemings\u2019 squad maintained its lead until another big 11-2 run gave the East the lead it would hold for good. Fleary and her squad ended the night with a 91\u201371 victory. Blue Devil fans should take note of North Carolina’s Kate Harpring \u2014 the 2026 Naismith Girls’ High School Player of the Year \u2014 who scored an impressive 14 points and Notre Dame\u2019s two participants Jacy Abii and Jenica Lewis.<\/p>\n

Four-stars in forward Sanai Green and center Taylor Sofilkanich round out the class for Duke, which will return three starters and aim for another deep NCAA Tournament run.<\/p>\n
