KNOXVILLE, Tenn. \u2014 Reports surfaced Saturday afternoon that five-star prospect Oliviyah Edwards is requesting a release from her signed letter of intent with Tennessee women\u2019s basketball.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The 6-foot-3 forward from\u00a0Lincoln High School\u00a0in Tacoma, Washington, is the nation\u2019s No. 2 ranked recruit, according to\u00a0ESPNW. She is also the highest-ranked prospect for Tennessee since 2019, when the Lady Vols signed\u00a0Jordan Horston.<\/p>\n

\n

Former Lady Vols assistant coach\u00a0Gabe Lazo\u00a0served as Edwards\u2019 primary recruiter. Lazo resigned from Tennessee on Friday after previously accepting an assistant coaching position at\u00a0LSU\u00a0earlier in the week, and on Saturday accepted a head coaching job at\u00a0UCF.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Edwards was one of two signees in Caldwell\u2019s incoming freshman class. The other, four-star guard Gabby Minus, is still expected to join the Lady Vols next season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tennessee has experienced significant roster and staff turnover, losing all but one returning player from its 2025\u201326 roster, with\u00a0Jaida Civil\u00a0as the lone returner. The program also lost assistants Lazo and\u00a0Roman Tubner, the latter of whom was fired on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
