Duke<\/a>\u00a0is 10-7 against ranked opponents and has won its last 19 out of 22 games.<\/p>\nFollowing its sweep over the Cavaliers, the Blue Devils have a midweek contest at Liberty on Wednesday, April 8, before a weekend series at UNC between April 10-April 12 at Anderson Stadium. Their next home game is hosting Tennessee at Smith Family Stadium for a midweek game on Wednesday, April 15.<\/p>\n
Duke softball off to hot start in ACC play<\/h2>\n
The Blue Devils currently sit at 13-2 in ACC play, with their only losses in league action coming to Virginia Tech and Stanford. Still, Duke has won each of its five conference series, sweeping California, Georgia Tech and Virginia. Its most recent sweep over Virginia came behind a six-run third inning in the series finale.<\/p>\n
In ACC standings, Duke currently sits at No. 2 behind Florida State, which is 12-0 in league play. The Blue Devils will not face the Seminoles in the regular season, with their remaining conference series against UNC (April 10-12), Boston College (April 17-19) and Clemson (April 24-April 26). The ACC championship is set for May 6-9 in Charlottesville, Virginia.<\/p>\n
Aminah Vega Duke softball all-time doubles leader, D’Auna Jennings all-time hits leader<\/h2>\n
In Duke’s ACC series opener against Cal, senior Aminah Vega became the program’s all-time doubles leader. Currently at 14 doubles on the season, the second baseman leads Duke with a .445 batting average, a 1.350 OPS and an .844 slugging percentage. She has started all 39 of Duke’s games this season alongside center fielder D’Auna Jennings and third baseman Tyrina Jones.<\/p>\n
Serving as Duke’s leadoff hitter, Jennings has a team-high 61 hits, 11 doubles behind Vega, and her .442 batting average ranks second-best on the team to go with a third-best .494 on-base percentage. The senior became the program’s all-time hit leader on March 1 against Northwestern. On the season, she is a perfect 10-for-10 on stolen base attempts.<\/p>\n
Jones leads the team with 52 RBIs and 14 home runs. Jones’ single, alongside Layla Lamar’s triple, in the third inning against Virginia helped Duke claim victory and earn the series sweep. She also posted two home runs in the 17-14 win over Stanford on March 29, one a solo shot and another a three-run blast.<\/p>\n
From the circle, Duke’s pitching staff combines for a 4.45 ERA. Cassidy Curd has emerged as the ace with a 13-2 record, 4.19 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP across 97 innings pitched. Mallory Wheeler has a team-high three saves and a 5.04 ERA across 59 \u2154 innings pitched.<\/p>\n
