Duke Pushing For $1.8 Million Recruit in College Basketball Transfer Portal<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

Duke is making an early push in the transfer portal as Jon Scheyer targets a high-profile addition to bolster the roster.<\/p>\n

The transfer portal officially opened Tuesday, and the\u00a0Duke<\/a>\u00a0Blue Devils are looking to hit the ground running. They enter the offseason after a disappointing end in the NCAA Tournament. Entering as a No. 1 seed, they were eliminated by the UConn Huskies in an Elite Eight matchup.<\/p>\n

Jon Scheyer and his staff have their work cut out for themselves. They\u2019ve already\u00a0lost two players<\/a>\u00a0to the portal, with Darren Harris and Nikolas Khamenia each searching for a new home. While the Blue Devils added just\u00a0two players<\/a>\u00a0in last year\u2019s cycle, they\u2019re working toward making a big splash this time around.<\/p>\n

On3\u2019s Joe Tipton\u00a0reported\u00a0that the Blue Devils are making a push for former\u00a0Alabama Crimson Tide<\/a>\u00a0center Aiden Sherrell, writing, \u201cDuke is expected to make a trip to see him Saturday afternoon\/evening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coming out of high school in the 2024 cycle, Sherrell was a four-star recruit and the No. 24 player in the nation, per\u00a0Rivals Industry Rankings<\/a>. He committed to Alabama, despite offers from the\u00a0Michigan State Spartans<\/a>,\u00a0Ohio State<\/a>\u00a0Buckeyes and\u00a0Oklahoma Sooners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He was solid during his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide. In 34 starts, he averaged\u00a011.1 points<\/a>, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists, all three of which are career highs. He shot 53.9% from the field and 33.8% from the three-point line.<\/p>\n

Sherrell\u2019s performance on the court has continued to increase his popularity and personal brand. His On3 NIL valuation of\u00a0$1.8 million<\/a>\u00a0is tied for the 13th-highest in college basketball.<\/p>\n

While Duke is making a push, it isn\u2019t the only program. Tipton also notes that the\u00a0Michigan Wolverines<\/a>,\u00a0Missouri Tigers<\/a>,\u00a0LSU<\/a>\u00a0Tigers, Indiana Hoosiers and\u00a0North Carolina Tar Heels<\/a>\u00a0are other teams linked to the sophomore.<\/p>\n

If he does choose the Blue Devils, it could be the first transfer portal commitment Scheyer and his staff land this offseason.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
