Notre Dame Fighting Irish news: A late surge, an NFL boast, and receipts for haters

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team closed out the regular season looking about as good as anyone could have expected. Better than most fans really had any reason to hope after a start to the campaign that saw Shawn Stiffler under serious fire.

In the final weekend of the regular season, the Blue and Gold managed to keep their hot streak going even after getting demolished in Game Two of the series against the Miami Hurricanes. The Irish capped the weekend by routing those same ‘Canes to take the series as they won the game 12-2.

The win was the latest resume builder for a team that hopes toget an at-large bid in the regionals. Something no one believed could possibly happen in mid-March. With the victory, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are now No. 41 in RPI with the win on Saturday giving them a five spot boost. Stiffler’s squad finishes 11th in the ACC and will open the conference tournament against 14th seeded Boston College on May 20 at 9 p.m.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish star knows what got him ready for the NFL

Earlier this week, Morrison talked about how Notre Daem has gotten him ready to play at the next level. He believes that the school got him prepared for the Bucs in a way that other schools couldn’t because games were so big and so important every single week.

We’ll see how that really translates to the pros when he plays his first couple of games with Tampa Bay, but it’s nice to think about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish being able to lean on players making it clear their time in South Bend is why they’re successful at the next level.

Strength of schedule not an issue

The Irish often take heat for their schedule but the reality is, they play a ton of good teams. That was documented in a list of the best and most interesting series that are coming up in College Football in the next few years. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were part of four of the Top 10.
