Texas vs. Texas A&M baseball score: Highlights as Longhorns sweep rival Aggies
Behind three hits and two RBI from Adrian Rodriguez, the last of which came on a solo home run that broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, No. 1 Texas defeated visiting Texas A&M 6-5 Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin to complete a three-game sweep of its archrival.
Each of the Longhorns’ wins in the series came by one run, joining a 2-1 victory on Friday and a 3-2 win on Saturday.
With the win, Texas improved to 37-5 overall and 19-2 in its inaugural season in the SEC. The Aggies, the No. 1 team in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, fell to 24-19 and 8-13 in the SEC. Texas A&M had entered the series having won 10 of its previous 11 games.
Grayson Saunier (1-0) earned the win for Texas after throwing 1⅓ scoreless innings of relief while Caden McCoy (3-2) took the loss for the Aggies. Rylan Galvan added two hits and two RBI for the Longhorns. Caden Sorrell had three hits and two RBI, including his seventh home run of the season, for Texas A&M in a losing effort.
When it comes to these two schools and programs, the intrigue during the weekend series went beyond what happened on the field. After leading Texas A&M to the championship of last year’s College World Series, coach Jim Schlossnagle controversially left the Aggies to become the new head coach at Texas, where he has the Longhorns atop the best conference in college baseball.

Texas wins 6-5, completes sweep of Texas A&M
For the third time in as many days, Texas gets a one-run win against Texas A&M, this one coming 6-5 on Sunday after Adrian Rodriguez’s eighth-inning solo shot broke a 5-5 tie.
The Aggies went down swinging (literally), getting runners on first and second with one out in the top of the ninth inning, but Kaeden Kent grounded into a double play, with Longhorns first baseman Kimble Schuessler collecting the ball, tossing it to second and getting back to first to be on the receiving end of the game-ending 3-4-3 exchange.
