Zach Orr, defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, thinks Nate Wiggins is destined to be “one of the best corners in the NFL.”

The Baltimore Ravens’ selection of cornerback Nate Wiggins in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft was met with anticipation and excitement. Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr, in particular, expressed high expectations for the young talent, believing Wiggins has the potential to become one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

Wiggins’ journey to the NFL began at Clemson University, where he showcased his skills as a standout cornerback. His performance at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine further solidified his status as a top prospect, clocking an impressive 4.28-second 40-yard dash, the fastest among cornerbacks. This speed, combined with his agility and coverage abilities, made him a prime candidate for the Ravens.

Upon joining the Ravens, Wiggins was welcomed into a secondary that already boasted established talents like Marlon Humphrey. Despite the presence of seasoned players, Orr was quick to highlight Wiggins’ potential. He praised Wiggins for his intelligence, work ethic, and athleticism, noting that the rookie was “great in the classroom” and had the physical tools to succeed at the next level.

One of Wiggins’ most commendable traits is his ability to perform in high-pressure situations. Orr observed that Wiggins consistently made plays during critical moments—be it third downs, end-of-game scenarios, or two-minute drills. This clutch performance under pressure is a hallmark of top-tier cornerbacks and bodes well for his future with the Ravens.

Standing over 6-foot-1 and possessing a lean frame, Wiggins combines his size with remarkable speed and agility. He is known for his physicality, often coming up to make tackles and not shying away from contact. Orr emphasized that despite being only 20 years old, Wiggins already plays with the toughness and mentality expected of a Raven.

As Wiggins continues to develop under Orr’s guidance, the expectations are high. With his blend of physical tools, intelligence, and work ethic, he has the potential to become a cornerstone of the Ravens’ defense. If he continues on his current trajectory, Wiggins could very well fulfill Orr’s prediction of becoming one of the NFL’s elite cornerbacks.

Nate Wiggins’ selection by the Baltimore Ravens represents a strategic move to bolster their secondary with a young, talented cornerback. With the mentorship of Zach Orr and the support of a strong defensive unit, Wiggins is poised to make significant contributions to the Ravens’ defense in the coming seasons.
