Another year has passed, and it’s time to celebrate the 25th birthday of Tyrique Stevenson, the dynamic cornerback for the Chicago Bears. Born on May 26, 2000, in Miami, Florida, Stevenson’s journey from high school standout to NFL professional has been marked by resilience, growth, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Stevenson’s football career began at Miami Southridge Senior High School, where his exceptional talent on the field caught the attention of college scouts. He initially committed to the University of Georgia, playing for the Bulldogs during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Seeking a return to his hometown, Stevenson transferred to the University of Miami, where he continued to develop his skills and earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2022.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears recognized Stevenson’s potential and selected him in the second round with the 56th overall pick. The Bears even traded up to secure this selection, demonstrating their confidence in his abilities. Stevenson quickly made an impact in his rookie season, starting all 16 games and recording 84 tackles, 16 passes defensed, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. His standout performance in Week 17, where he notched two interceptions against the Atlanta Falcons, earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The 2024 season presented new challenges and opportunities for growth. Stevenson continued to be a key contributor to the Bears’ defense, starting all 16 games and accumulating 78 tackles, 12 pass deflections, two interceptions, and his first career touchdown—a 43-yard pick-six against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.
