Tennessee transfer QB Ryan Staub throws only TD in Orange and White Game
Tennessee football got in and out of its Orange and White Spring Game at Neyland Stadium in under two hours.
The spring game on April 11 ended 13-10. The Vols’ quarterbacks George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon were the headliners coming into the game, but Colorado transfer Ryan Staub threw the only touchdown with a 75-yard connection to walk-on receiver Carson Whitehead.
The kickers also got a lot of action. Louisville transfer Cooper Ranvier and redshirt sophomore Josh Turbyville both got multiple looks.
Javin Gordon breaks away for long TD rush
Tulane transfer running back Javin Gordon got loose for a 62-yard touchdown, and emphasized the score by trucking a defender on his way to the endzone.
Josh Turbyville knocks in another field goal
Tennessee heads into halftime after a 38-yard field goal from redshirt senior Josh Turbyville, who played at Knoxville Catholic in high school.
Cooper Ranvier nails field goal
Louisville transfer kicker Cooper Ranvier drills a 38-yard field goal. The redshirt sophomore replaced former kicker Max Gilbert, who transferred to Arkansas.

Colorado transfer quarterback Ryan Staub started first for the offense and completed a 75-yard touchdown to walk-on receiver Carson Whitehead. The redshirt senior played for Powell High School.
Injury updates for Tennessee in spring game
It’s typical for some veteran players to sit out the spring game, especially those nursing minor injuries. That means the lineup could shrink out of precautions. Here are the initial players expected to miss the spring game:
- All-SEC linebacker Arion Carter had offseason surgery due to foot injuries in the 2025 season.
- Linebacker Jordan Burns has missed spring practice due to an injury.
- Defensive tackle Daevin Hobbs suffered an injury early in spring practice that sidelined him.
- All-SEC offensive guard Wendell Moe missed most of spring practice due to an injury suffered in the Vanderbilt game last season. He recently returned to practice, but his limitations may keep him out of the spring game.
- Edge rusher Chaz Coleman, a Penn State transfer, has missed multiple practices recently for undisclosed reasons. UT has not announced his status for the spring game.
