Kentucky has added Rick Pitino and St. John’s to their schedule

Basketball season hasn’t started yet and the Kentucky Wildcats have already made a schedule change, albeit an incredibly interesting one.

The Wildcats will now face off against St. John’s in the upcoming CBS Sports Classic, per St. John’s insider David Berov.

“St. John’s is joining the CBS Sports Classic and will play the Kentucky Wildcats this season, according to a source,” Berov said. “The field of four will now be Ohio State, North Carolina, Kentucky and St. John’s.”

Kentucky was previously slated to play UCLA in the tournament prior to the Red Storm replacing them. The matchup marks a fun reunion for Kentucky and former head coach Rick Pitino, who now coaches St. John’s.

Pitino coached at Kentucky from 1989 to 1997. In 1996 he won the national championship with a roster that included current Kentucky head coach Mark Pope.

The pupil will face off against master when the Wildcats head to Madison Square Garden this December for the CBS Sports Classic.
